Ask for a correction

Version 1.0, published 16 September 2026.

Invoc shows, for each food product, values taken from its record and a position among comparable products, computed with the method published on the methodology page. A value can be wrong: a label changes, a record was typed with an error, a photo is outdated. This page says how to ask for a check, what Invoc does with the request, and what it never does.

1. Who may ask

Anyone: a shopper, a producer, a brand, a retailer, a journalist, an association. No account is needed.

2. What can be checked

Any value shown for a product: its name, brand, quantity, category, a nutrition value per 100 g, the ingredient list, the additive count, the NOVA group, the Nutri-Score grade, the photo, the countries of sale. A request concerns an input; the position in a group follows from the inputs and the published method, and is not itself a value one can ask to change.

3. What to send

  • The barcode of the product (the number printed under the bars).
  • The field in question and the value you believe is right.
  • A photo of the label showing that value. A request without a label photo cannot be processed.
  • Your name or company, and an email address where the written answer can reach you. Without the address, Invoc cannot confirm the correction to you once it is done. Names are not verified; the email address is what identifies a request.

Send it to corrections@invoc.io with the subject Correction followed by the barcode. One request per barcode at a time; a new request on the same barcode can be sent once the previous one is answered. Your message, your email address and the photo are kept, dated, together with the decision, as the record of the check; they are backed up with Invoc's data and used for nothing else.

4. What Invoc does

  • Re-checks the value against the label photo and against the current Open Food Facts record.
  • Answers in writing, at the email address given, within four weeks of receiving a complete request.
  • When the label supports the request, corrects Invoc's copy of the record. The correction is visible in the app at the next data publication, and the product's position in its group follows from the corrected values.
  • Records the decision, whichever way it goes, with the date, the evidence and the reasoning, in Invoc's decision ledger, so that a later change to the record can be understood.
  • When Invoc's copy was right and the Open Food Facts record is what differs, says so and points to the record, which anyone may edit there.

5. What Invoc never does

  • Change the method for one product. The same method applies to every product in a group.
  • Set a position by hand, up or down.
  • Take a value without a label to back it.
  • Remove a product from a comparison because a request asks for it, when its record is correct.

6. Brands and producers: the right of reply

A brand can do more than ask: through the Invoc brand portal, a brand account can correct and complete the values of its own products, add photos and propose a category. Every change is recorded with the account and the time, and values entered by a brand are marked as such. A brand may also propose a comparison group for its products; a group is a comparison, never a purchased position. To open a brand account, write to corrections@invoc.io with the subject Brand portal.

7. Fair use

  • One open request per barcode.
  • Requests concern values shown on the label, not the position itself.
  • A label photo is required for each request.
  • Beyond 20 requests a day from one sender, the rest are handled in order over the following days.

8. Who answers

Invoc is published by Cross Stream Solutions Sàrl, Chemin de Villardin 4, 1004 Lausanne, Switzerland. Requests are read by the people who maintain the data, not by an automated system.
